The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a four section programme with three levels:
Each award involves development and work in the following areas:
Supervision and safety, We place your child’s safety at the heart of everything we do. The trust you place in us is never underestimated. That’s why all activities are carefully supervised and monitored. All leaders are CRB checked and experienced in youth work and outdoor activities. Every expedition and training session has suitably qualified leaders present (ML or BELA).
What are the costs? There is a small entry fee into the Award programme. This includes the cost of the Record Book, in which all activities will be listed and reported. Many activities are relatively inexpensive or free. The equipment required for expeditions is available to hire from Doncaster Duke of Edinburgh stores. There are also funds and grants available if required.
This year we have 2 Bronze award groups and one Silver award, totally 16 participants. We meet fortnightly at Cantley Community Centre on a Wednesday evening for training and support. We have planned regular outings for the year including outdoor cooking practice, training in putting up tents, navigation and daywalks. We will also complete at least two weekend camping and walking expeditions.
