Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech is famous. You only need to utter the opening words and everyone knows who said it, or has at least heard of it.
Christians have a dream of a future even better than that of Martin Luther King. It is a dream of a world where there is no suffering or pain, where colds, flu, MRSA, Aids and every other illness or disease that blight our lives now have been banished. A world where there is no bullying, or loneliness, no isolation and heartbreak. A world where there is no fighting, where peace has broken out, where there is no terrorism or hatred. A world where we never have to mourn again the loss of those dear to us. A world where there are no more tears, no more death, or mourning or crying or pain.
It is the world that grace gifts us. It is the future for those who believe that Jesus died for them and it is a future that is certain because it does not depend on what we do, but on what God has done for us in Jesus.
